Last Monday was the longest day of the year so photographer Tom Oldham decided to document the day over the 24 hour period by shooting 24 portraits of people in and around the East End of London (which includes Proper heroes Gilbert & George). The idea being to se if he could actually do it and to find out if London is a 24 hour city by focussing on people at their place of work at that time of day. The resulting images were then put into a free newspaper format and handed out at Bethnal Green, Hoxton and Shoreditch stations. As admirers of Tom’s work (and the machinations of our glorious capital) we thought we’d share some of his ace portraits with those of us not blessed with an East End postcode.
