Proper Picks: Gear of the Week 22nd-29th April

Imagine being a fully grown adult and not liking trainers more than your own kids. Imagine not having to hide your weekly footwear buys from your other half, or not having to disguise the payments as something they find important. Imagine that.

Now remember that none of that matters and what does matter is that it’ll soon be sunny again and you’re going to need some shoes that’ll look mint with shorts and a t-shirt. Luckily, we’re on hand to help you spend your money wisely and not end up looking like a lost dad who got dragged backwards through TK Maxx. Anyway, here’s some decent gear from the last week or so…

Novesta MARATHON All Pink
€119.00, Novesta

Spring has finally sprung, as has the need to invest in some new lovely footwear that’s suits the new season. Luckily everyone’s favourite Slovakian shoe makers, Novesta, are on hand with their latest addition to the MARATHON family – this time in a dusty pink colourway. Delicious!
The Sebago x Oi Polloi Portland
£130.00, Oi Polloi

Think of good clothes and you think of Oi Polloi, think of mint boating footwear and you think of Sebago, so it’s only natural the two got together to make mega, super deck-shoes. We wrote about them here.
Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%
£239.00, Nike.com

With it being the London Marathon this weekend, we thought it only right we include some of the latest runners from Nike, the ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%. A lairy-looking shoe, with a whole range of benefits for runners, like the Vaporweave making it lightweight, breathable and — critically — they absorb far less water from sweat or rain, so it stays airy and dry over the course of a marathon, or your walk to the pub.
Air Max 97 ‘Shanghai Kaleidoscope’
£500.00+, Presented By

A homage to home designed by Cash Ru, the ‘Shanghai Kaleidoscope’ features white sole units to symbol the clouds that float by in the city, while the uppers represent the city’s light blue sky. Hard to get hold of these, so they won’t hang about for long.

There’s not much more we can say about New Balance that hasn’t already been said, especially as we wrote about these earlier in the week. Sensational though, aren’t they?
Universal Works x Novesta Star Master
£69.00, END. Clothing

Having manufactured their natural rubber soles and cotton canvas shoes in the same factory in Partizánske, Slovakia since 1939, Novesta team up for a seventh season with British label Universal Works.
