Paul & Shark’s Collaboration with White Mountaineering was Expensive and Slept On

When Paul & Shark released their AW21 collaboration with White Mountaineering, we were immediately piqued. A collaboration with the Japanese clothing line run by Yosuke Aizawa made a lot of sense to anyone that understood Paul & Shark from the beginning. The brand’s bread and butter – as the name implies – was activewear: yachting, outdoors, performance.

Unfortunately, over the past few years, Paul & Sharks commitments to activewear have been overshadowed. The brand, fortunately, is not so obtuse as to unaware of that, and over the recent years, they have produced functional items throwing back to their beginnings. The AW21 Reflective ‘Multi’ jacket had every piece of trending technology pumped into its seams; and their ‘Save the Ocean’ range allowed them to explore recycled nylon technologies with their own in-house ECONYL. They sponsored the Shark Trust and equipped ocean researchers on trawlers as they collected data. In short, Paul & Shark is doing everything to reclaim their post as outwear’s aquatic captain.

Outside of that, the brand leapt for the snowy caps with White Mountaineering. While we loved the products – the two-tone patches on the Bomber Jacket; the angles of the pockets, so sharp and distinct – the price tag was too hefty. The Typhoon Parka breached a grand. It is, to be fair, elegantly layered, with hidden tabs and fastens and a removable inner lining. But it was just a little too spenny. Fortunately, the problem is solved, as Pockets has a 50% sale on the entire Paul & Shark x White Mountaineering range, which knocks off silly money and makes one of the most slept on collaborations of ‘21 accessible.
