Fred Perry opens new space close to its roots

Founded by the enigmatic tennis pro of the same name, Fred Perry has long since transcended its roots as purely a brand at home on the court.

It’s a brand close to home as well as heart, with Fred being born and raised in our native town of Stockport. A tennis serve away in nearby Manchester, Fred Perry have put down some serious foundations in an area of the city most suited to its cross-cultural appeal.

The store occupies almost 3000 square feet on the corner of Oldham Street and Church Street and has been open for a couple of weeks now. It’s no coincidence that it’s part of the overall Afflecks building, a Mancunian institution around which much of the independent spirit in the Northern Quarter was built. The interior of the shop embraces past, present and future, a fine but necessary balance for a brand for which all three are an intrinsic part.

The new Fred Perry flagship store is at 41-43 Oldham Street, Manchester, M1 1JG. You can find out more at fredperry.com as well as their social channels at @fredperry
