Karhu’s link up with Moomin is our favourite Finnish fantasy.
Karhu are continuing their series of collaborations with fellow Fins, Moomin, created by author and illustrator Tove Jansson in 1945.
The Moomins are a family of playful and carefree trolls from the storybook of the same name. Their influence is inseparable from the experience of childhood in Finland, and their reach expands even further afield to make them a household name all over the western world.
The footwear collaboration takes form as both of Karhu’s iconic Fusion 2.0 and Aria 95 silhouettes are dressed with colours, characters and fonts from the world of Moominvalley. Both feature splashes of red, inspired by Moomintroll’s scarf, and vibrant geometric patterns that highlight the colours of Moominvalley.
Karhu brought the collaborative effort alive with a visit to the Finnish island of Kailo, home to Moominworld, where the colours contrast against the peaceful white of snow, and the idyllic shapes of quaint houses.
The collection goes live at Karhu’s site from February 4th.
