Kim Jones brings together Stone Island and Dior

The name Kim Jones first came to prominence in our circles via his collaboration with football brand Umbro, around 20 years ago. Though this wasn’t exactly pre-internet, it was in a time before social media got a stranglehold on us all. There was a pretty large range at the time, but the pinnacle was a jacket made with metal fibres, which was stocked at Oi Polloi amongst others.

The journey Kim Jones has gone on since those times has taken in Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi. It’s via his role with Dior his latest link-up has arrived.

The synergy between an Italian sportswear brand with pragmatic, masculine roots and Parisian haute couture may not seem obvious, but at the roots of both is a shared passion for excellence. And any collaboration where two worlds collide tends to be more interesting than those based on friendship.

The ‘alchemy of colour’ is a central theme in the collection. The move to using almost exclusively noble materials transforms the outcome of the garment dyeing process. Signature colours and silhouettes from the Stone Island archive are utilized and transformed in intensity.

This is definitely something perhaps a small sliver of our audience will be bang into, but Stone Island is a brand we hold dear and watching its rise from what was ostensibly appreciated by blokey blokes into something that lives in a number of other worlds is something that’ll always be on our radar.

Stay tuned for more info on release dates.
