Ok, so I’m not going to get through this without mentioning Sarah Cracknell am I? So there it is, I’ve done it in the first line. Out of the way now.
Now, to the point. French and Italian football just grew around 11% more interesting after its two coolest clubs decided to adopt Le Coq Sportif kits for the coming season.
Fiorentina evoke images of Batistuta and Rui Costa wearing purple, yes purple kits. Or is it violet? Who cares? It’s like Blackpool pretending to wear tangerine even though it’s orange. Anyway, Fiorentina, purple… It seems fitting that a club with such a unique identity would join forces with a brand known for making unique kits.
Part of that reputation was formed when they provided St Etienne with possibly the coolest kit ever made. And at long last they’re back with a modern take on that very kit. And now at 36 I’m considering buying an actual football shirt to wear away from the 5-a-side pitch. Bravo, Le Coq Sportif!
