Proper Picks: Gear of the Week 9th – 15th July

This week it’s all about footwear, because we all know you can never have enough footwear options can you? As it happens, it’s been quite a week in the world of trainers, with releases whetting the lips of every man and his dog. From “dad trainers” that are now cool, to futuristic-looking trainers that your dad will actually 100% hate. It’s a mad world, the trainer world.

Anyway, here are some of our favourite SNEAKERS from the last week or so.

ASICS X AWAKE Gel-Kayano 5 60
£150.00, Sneakersnstuff

Everyone is into running trainers nowadays. Way back when you used to get kicked in for wearing them, but now you’ll be lucky to even touch a pair. ASICS’ collab with American brand AWAKE brings two colourways, one of black and gold and then our favourites in green and silver. They look mint don’t they? Literally. We wrote about them here too.
Novesta Star Master Orange
€59.00, Novesta

THIS IS THE TIME FOR NOVESTA. SUMMER IS WHEN NOVESTA IS REALLY WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN NATURALLY SOURCED, VEGAN FRIENDLY GOLD. Their Star Masters are excellent with almost any summer outfit. Lightweight, breathable and comfy, they’re the ultimate summer shoe. Plus they come in about 57 different colourways, which is handy.
PUMA x Chinatown Market
£100.00, Size?

Continuing their collab with Chinatown Market, PUMA serves up a fresh selection of Ralph Sampsons this summer. Dressed in smooth leather, each pair is equipped with multiple Formstripes which can be swapped and customised thanks to a discreet Velcro patch to the sidewall. Mad that innit?
Nike React Element 87 Total Orange
£250.00, Laced

We know. We like the Nike Reacts, what you gonna do? They’re sleek, a nice shape and they keep bringing them out in excellent colourways. Nice right?

adidas ZX Torsion
£110.00, Oi Polloi

These ZX Torsion trainers are really quite something, aren’t they? Originally launched all the way back in the 80s, the trabs in adidas ZX collection were the undisputed don dadas of running shoes. Now they’re back and at Oi Polloi, which is handy.

We wrote about these the other day too. Look.
Nike x UNDERCOVER Daybreak
£200.00, PresentedBy

The UNDERCOVER x Nike Daybreak. Rather than the accents of white from one of its debuting sets you probably might maybe remember, this pair opts for an upper almost entirely bereft of color as its nylon and nappy suede materials come dressed for the prom in full black.

Absolutely well into house plants.
