Put Spring in your step – 10 pairs of trainers we reckon you’ll like

New Balance 2002RX Gore-Tex Tobacco With Incense And True Brown
Tobacco with Incense seems like two strong smells battling with one another, but these 2002RX Gore-Tex New Balance claim to include hues from both. For me, if you screw your eyes up just enough this could be a shoe-shaped chocolate digestive biscuit, a more alluring prospect than smokey smells.

Nike ACG Mountain Fly Low Gore-Tex SE – Hazel Rush/Black-Khaki-Atomic Orange
A mainstay of ACG’s offering for a few seasons now, this would have been a really conceptual design ten years ago. It shows how mad things have gone footwear-wise that this rugged pair of shoes is commercially bang on trend.

adidas Hyperturf Trainers – Grey / Black
While Nike effortlessly eschews ACG, their three striped competitor has shoes like the Hyperturf, which in this colourway looks like something Darth Vader would wear to Powerleague.

New Balance 2002RX Gore-Tex Nb Navy With Arctic Grey And Vintage Indigo
Yep, these are included elsewhere, with references to their colourway. This version comes in Arctic Grey and Vintage Indigo, both of which sound suitably exotic on a trainer which I’d say is ‘mostly blue’.

adidas Originals Gazelle 85 Archive Series Trainers – Lilac
The Gazelle really should only come in colours like this. Stick to suede, keep it slightly on the side of statement making.

Karhu Trampas Baked Clay Riviera
The brand which sold the three stripe logo to the three stripe brand has enjoyed a welcome resurgence in recent years, certainly in our world. This European-looking shoe looks like something Wes Anderson would do a bleep test in.

Salomon XT6 Trainers – Laurel Wreath / Lily Pad
The XT6 is arguably the shoe of the moment, at least for those wanting to appear ahead of the curve. The fact those who are actually ahead of the curve will tell you it’s done already says more about them than the shoe itself. Don’t listen.

Karhu Fusion 2.0 Abbey Stone Pink Arrow
The Fusion 2.0 is probably our favourite Karhu colourway. This comfortable shoe from the Finnish brand named after the bear is suitably robust and rugged.

Asics Novablast 3 Le Trainers Indigo Blue/Island Blue
These are what the future looked like back in the 90s.

adidas Terrex Trailmaker GTX Trainers Silvio Bludaw
Seriously sturdy shoe alert! These Gore-Tex goodies come from the Terrex arm of the adidas organisation and come in a suitably muted colourway, albeit with a couple of hints of the type of hues you’d find in the window of mothercare. Kind of baby blue and pink aren’t they?
