Seiko releases 5 Sports Peanuts Limited Edition

In commemoration of the 55th anniversary of Seiko 5 Sports, Seiko Watches are about to launch a couple of very smart limited edition designs in collaboration with the beloved 1950s newspaper comic strip, Peanuts.

First launched in 1950, the Peanuts newspaper comic quickly gained international notoriety and affection, with fans around the world celebrating the range of Peanuts characters that featured in the daily comic strip. Today the timeless cartoon designs continue to resonate, which is why they remain relevant for brands wanting to collaborate.

To mark this collaboration, and the 55th anniversary of Seiko 5 Sports watches, two Seiko 5 Sports Peanuts Limited Edition ‘Sense Style’ models have been designed with original Peanuts illustrations on the dial and case-back. The sentimental ‘Surfboard’ and ‘Parachute´ designs have been selected from the same year as the launch of Seiko 5 Sports in 1963.

Careful attention to detail has been considered when designing the dial; the ‘Schulz’ font first conceived by Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz has been used for the indices and text featured on the case-back.

Both stainless steel, automatic timepieces feature a day-date display, with Seiko’s 4R36 calibre guaranteeing reliability, durability and performance.

The ‘Surfboard’ model features a 38mm case size and is adorned with a grey and white nylon strap, and the ‘Parachute’ model has a slightly slimmer case size of 36.4mm, accompanied by a black leather strap.

Available from June at Seiko.
