Stone Island Quilted Ice Jacket

The word ‘gimmick’ usually carries negative connotations. It’s used to describe stuff without substance and instead with cheap, short term appeal.

To be honest though, I’m not sure I can think of a better word to describe this fantastic piece of clothing history. Gimmick or no gimmick, the chameleon-like Stone Island Ice Jacket is an iconic garment, no matter which form it takes. Having had a couple of other Ice Jackets, I’ve got my eyes firmly fixed on this, especially with that freezing game of cards taking place right now (yes, that was a ‘cold snap’ gag, sorry).

In an ideal world I’d score a lottery win, get a bonus from my non-existent employer or find a bag full of used blueys (that’s five pound notes btw not porn movies). In such circumstances this beauty would be my first port of call. As things are I’ll have to be content with doing that thing people always do when they’ve seen something they like but can’t afford right now… I’m going to write about it instead.

In fact I just have. Here are the pictures and if you fancy weighing down your credit card, you need to head to Six Whiting Street to get hold of one.
