The North Face: Steep Tech RMST – A Legacy Remastered

Over three decades ago, Freeskier Scot Schmidt redefined skiwear when he created Steep Tech. This year, The North Face pay homage to Schmidt with Steep Tech RMST; a timely reimagination that honours the past and anticipates the future.

For the uninitiated, Scot Schmidt was a pioneering freeskier of his time, known for incredible feats of adventure, jumping off cliffs into powder snow at over 50 miles per hour. It was this kind of thing that brought him to the attention of The North Face in 1983, who became his first sponsor and kitted him out in skiwear that he pushed to the limit. It started with personalisation and modifications to maximise his gear and resulted in one of the most boundary pushing collections of our time.

The hero piece of the collection is the RMST Steep Tech GTX Work Jacket. Designed for durability with fully waterproof GORE-TEX fabric, the asymmetrical zipper style features an adjustable and removeable hood, fully bonded seams, and a range of pocket and zip features reminiscent of the original Scot Schmidt Steep Tech Designs.

The North Face Steep Tech collection is available now at The North Face
