Designed and developed prior to the pandemic Universal Works AW20 arrives in what they themselves describe as ‘a world newly shaped by a more thoughtful, introspective and perhaps a recalibrated perspective‘. A world which perhaps echoes their ethos of avoiding fashion themes and agendas and instead looks to more informal and practical attire that’s suited to these changing times. The new collection sees new shapes mixing up against UW staple pieces with (WFH friendly) more relaxed fitting pants and jackets constructed from both modern and traditional fabrics with the brand’s blue collar workwear roots still clearly evident throughout. It also reminds us of that amazing post war Kerouac, beat poet, jazzy, late night coffee bar era when both minds and trousers started to loosen up .
