Founded by John Rich and Daniel McCormick in 1830, they first provided outerwear for the hunters, loggers and trappers of Pennsylvania. They veered off the path somewhat during the American civil war, while the hardy properties of their gear attracted use from Richard E Byrd’s Antarctic Expedition of 1939-40.
It’s fair to say they’ve earned their stripes.
For the 2021 Fall/Winter Season, Woolrich sets the time capsule destination to the 1960s and 70s, exploring the American counterculture in harsh outdoor environments. This generation were behind something of a gear revolution which we’re still benefiting from today.
