Look how chuffed this model is with his Barbour International Overshirt? He’s just asked the photographer if he can have it once the shoot is over, and the photographer has silently pointed to a multi-tasking lad sitting at a nearby desk, his hair festooned with more grey bits than you’d expect. “It’s in the sale” he replies, without really looking up from his desk and the model nods approvingly.
Really set the scene there haven’t I? It’s a familiar one that probably plays out in every ecommerce shoot at some point.
We’re now officially past the longest day of the year so in theory it’s downhill from here. The nights are actually drawing in which is a great thought to ponder for those of us who hate winter. Really great. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. There are several months before things go all sad and most of those months are absolutely prime for overshirts. Whether you’re wearing it as a substitute for actual outerwear or you’re layering it up for that transitional fortnight at the end of September, the overshirt is a wardrobe staple we should all be embracing.
