MJB Teams Up with Sonic the Hedgehog

The 90s were a divisive time, looking back. You were Oasis or Blur, Neighbours or Home and Away, Sega or Nintendo. You may have been into both on the quiet, but outwardly you had to pick a side. If you were Team Sega like me, choosing the mighty Mega Drive over the inferior SNES, Sonic the Hedgehog needs no introduction. I’d spend hours guiding the speedy blue hedgehog around 2D platform worlds, pausing only to check football scores on Ceefax or catch up on the latest happenings on Ramsay Street.

I have to admit, Sonic and I have lost touch since the 90s. He went into films or something, and I don’t really play computer games any more. Perhaps you’re the same. A reason to get reacquainted with our little blue buddy, however, could be this cool little collab with British fashion house, MJB. Founded by Marc Jacques Burton, MJB infuses artistic techniques and hand-drawn graphics into it’s collections, and has been sported by the likes of Gigi Hadid, Tom Holland, Tom Hardy, The Migos, Gunna, Lil Baby, Noel Gallagher, AJ Tracey and Giggs.

To celebrate Sonic’s 30th birthday, MJB has reworked some of the classic 90s imagery from the game onto the brand’s signature punk stitched hoodies, tees, caps and beanies. There’s also a limited edition football shirt produced in collaboration with GAFFER magazine. To shoot the collection, the guys called upon musician JNR Choi, YouTuber Kristen Hanby, actor Kadeem Ramsay (Top Boy and Blue Story), skateboarder Aimee Gillingwater, model Manna and one of the fastest footballers in the Premier League, Tariq Lamptey.

You can shop the collection in-store at Selfridges, Flannels, and Harrods. Or online at Selfridges, MJB, Harrods and Flannels.
