With the darker nights comes a need to infuse our days with a bit more colour. Whether that be via a big yellow sou’wester (perhaps not) or something more refined like this Penfield fleece gilet, it’s a bit of a necessity tbh.
Penfield is a weird one. Almost always on the radar, always reliable, the right side of affordable without being cheap as chips, and never uninteresting. What the brand stands for in 2023 is more difficult to say, but then maybe it doesn’t need to run numerous charitable projects or collaborate with hiking groups. Maybe it just needs to do its thing like it always has, making reliable, nice clothing that allows you to indulge a splash of colour in the murky depths of winter.
