Pacific Horizons : Songs from the Big Room

Pacific Horizons first came to my attention when I heard their wonderful Stealing the Fire from Heaven which came out a couple of years back – not only did it catch me but it was included in Mr Weatherall’s ‘Masterpiece’ mix CD, which is testimony in itself.

Pacific Horizons consist of three members who hail out of Los Angeles and between them have now put out over 5 records on their own label, Pacific Wizard Foundation (great name) and recently released a new 12″ curiously named Witches & A Prayer. When I quizzed James, who coincidentally delivered our mix, where that title came from..”well it’s inspired by the “Tensegrity” cult Carlos Castaneda led in Westwood towards the end of his life. His devotees (“chocmools”) all disappeared once he died- most likely a suicide pact.” Fairplay James.

PH gomorrah

So onto the mix, James kindly gave us an option to what he’d put into it, either song based affair or more of a club feel, so it was a case of drawing straws (we didn’t) and opted for the latter. Sod you, we think we made the right choice.
