A Spring Stroll with Puma Mallorca

As a long-time admirer of the largest of the Balearic islands and indeed Rudi Dassler’s brainchild, these shoes are music to my ears, or rather to my feet.

The dream would have been a little weekend jolly-up to Arenal, Alcudia or good old Magaluf to road test these suave sneaks, but that wasn’t possible. You might have heard about all this travel ban stuff.

Instead we embraced the East Mancunian post-industrial landscape, which – combined with the sun making a long-overdue appearance – made for a nice diversion from the daily grind in the office.

Plucked from their extensive archives, the Mallorca has terrace vibes yet perhaps in a more refined way than some of their competitors portray. There are indoor sport vibes with the PUMA Contact sole and the bumper car effect to the front is far more aesthetically pleasing than other suede and gum protagonists. All of these features make this shoe a summertime staple in our eyes. Whether you’re dreaming of soleros and pedalos or you’re more likely to splayed across a patch of surprisingly well-kept British grass, the tastefully tangy colours will only aid your good mood.
