If there’s one thing we absolutely love at Proper it’s a nice bit of jeanage, it being no secret that we’re becoming more and more obsessed with a nice bit of selvedge…

We’ve fielded quite a few requests for Issue 9 recently but it has sold out, we don’t even have a spare copy for ourselves. We’re planning a ‘Best Of’ featuring the good stuff from issues 1-9 in 2011 but in the meantime we thought we’d whet your appetite with a little snippet of our interview with the chap behind Superdenim in Issue 9, released in late summer 2010.

Our good mate Taka at Allevol has kindly sent us some recent photos of his ace jeans that we thought we’d share with you. If you’re not familiar with the Allevol label they’re London based but the denim and the designer are both Japanese, with the materials and manufacture being based in Okayama (on vintage union machines no less).

Much as we love the whole process of getting a new pair of rigid, dark, selvedge jeans to wear in the bath and then slowly destroy over time until they look suitably worn in/knackered, we’re also being somewhat swayed by those crazy Swedish cats at Nudie and the tinkering around they’re doing with their legendary denim at the moment.

From time to time we like to pair up with friends of ours. No I’m not talking about swingers parties but using our little website to show off the wares of our mates. In this case we’ve been given a pair of premium selvedge denim jeans by new brand Joe and Co to give away to one lucky reader.
