Being the proud Stopfordians that we are Fred Perry is someone we’re rather fond of here at Proper and so we’re rather impressed that his clothing legacy appears to share some of the same fashionable friends as our humble magazine. For the second Friends of Fred project the label has comissioned a contemporary yet mod-ish outfit by collaborating with some of our favourite labels.
We’ve been doing this magazine thing for almost 5 years now. It seems like yesterday that we were hastily stapling copies together in the spare room at Proper Towers, but having made an extra effort to improve things this last 12 months, the new and improved version of our “little fanzine” has come of age.
On our recent jaunt to London, a couple of us had the pleasure of spending time with 6876’s Kenneth MacKenzie and Garbstore’s Ian Paley. Both were exceptional hosts, and better still, both make things we really, really like.
With that in mind, it was pretty ace to hear them both tell us about the collaboration they had planned.
Continuing on our ‘Shop Ten’ theme whereby the world’s coolest shops compile us a top ten of whatever the hell they like, Garbstore head honcho Ian Paley has done us a fantastic list full of amazing curios and cultured bits and bobs that we think nicely sums up just how cool the man and his fantastic shop and label are..
